Foodsmart, a telenutrition and foodcare provider, announced the appointment of Dr. Toyin Ajayi to its board of directors on March 18. Dr. Ajayi serves as co-founder and CEO of Cityblock Health and is a board-certified family medicine physician.

Dr. Ajayi brings experience in serving Medicaid and dually eligible populations through value-based care models. At Cityblock Health, she has helped build a value-based care organization that integrates primary care, behavioral health, and social support for underserved communities.

Foodsmart partners with health plans and providers to offer virtual dietitian care, medically tailored nutrition, and food benefits. The company reports serving more than 3 million members nationwide.

"Too many patients living with complex medical and social needs struggle to access the nutrition support that could fundamentally change their health trajectory," Dr. Ajayi said in a statement. "Foodsmart is operationalizing foodcare at scale, connecting clinically grounded nutrition care to people's real lives."

Dr. Ajayi serves on the board of directors of Evolent Health (NYSE: EVH) and is a member of the National Academy of Medicine. She co-founded Coalition Partners, where she invests in early-stage entrepreneurs.

Kurt Knight, CEO of Foodsmart, stated that Dr. Ajayi's experience building care systems will strengthen the company's work with partners as Medicaid programs and health plans face accountability for total cost of care and health equity outcomes.

Frank Williams, executive chairman of Foodsmart and co-founder and former CEO of Evolent Health, noted that Dr. Ajayi's experience delivering care to underserved populations will support the company's foodcare platform for payer and provider partners.
