Eagle Nuclear Energy hires SLR International for Aurora uranium permitting
Eagle Nuclear Energy Corp. (NASDAQ: NUCL) has engaged SLR International Corporation to manage environmental permitting for its Aurora Uranium Project located along the Oregon-Nevada border.
The Aurora project contains what Eagle describes as the largest conventional, measured and indicated uranium deposit in the United States. The deposit holds 32.75 million pounds indicated and 4.98 million pounds inferred uranium resources, according to the company's SK-1300 technical report summary.
SLR International will serve as program manager for environmental permitting tasks, including baseline studies and exploration permitting support for geological activities, drilling programs, and metallurgical studies. The consulting firm has previous experience with the Bureau of Land Management and Oregon Department of Geology and Mineral Industries for obtaining exploration and mining permits.
The SLR team previously worked on permitting for Paramount Gold's Grassy Mountain project and Jindalee Lithium's McDermitt project, both located in Malheur County, Oregon, the same county as Aurora. SLR helped get Jindalee's McDermitt project included in the federal government's FAST-41 initiative for expedited permitting.
Eagle plans to pursue inclusion of Aurora in the FAST-41 program while working toward operational milestones over the next 12-18 months. The company estimates completion of a Pre-Feasibility Study for Aurora in late 2027.
"SLR's permitting expertise, their proven track-record around the world, and their relevant experience in our neighbourhood, makes them a natural partner for Eagle," said Vishal Gupta, Eagle's VP of Operations.
The Aurora project is part of Eagle's strategy to develop what it calls a vertically integrated nuclear energy platform combining uranium resources with small modular reactor technology.
