VIAVI unveils Observer Threat Forensics solution for network security teams

March 18, 2026 6:31 AM

VIAVI Solutions Inc. (NASDAQ: VIAV) announced the launch of Observer Threat Forensics, a solution designed to provide retrospective analysis capabilities for network security operations teams.

The solution combines packet insights, flow data and log telemetry into a unified workflow for network and security operations teams. Observer Threat Forensics incorporates threat intelligence powered by CrowdStrike and builds on VIAVI's network operation management platform.

The product aims to help organizations identify potential vulnerabilities and conduct post-detection analyses of security breaches, including determining intrusion points and exposed data. The platform provides a dashboard that displays site, application, network and unified communications views.

According to VIAVI's State of the Network study, 79 percent of 750 responding chief information officers and chief information security officers wanted convergence between network and security operations teams. However, only 27 percent of surveyed organizations have begun transitioning from siloed operational models.

"VIAVI's Observer Threat Forensics leverages common datasets already collected for our network performance monitoring platform," said Chris Labac, Vice President and General Manager, Network Performance and Threat Solutions at VIAVI. "Because the network traffic, enriched flow data, and metadata are already there, NetOps and SecOps can use the same data to gain performance insights and investigate security threats."

Daniel Bernard, Chief Business Officer at CrowdStrike, said the integration provides organizations with context needed to investigate incidents and understand impact across domains.

VIAVI will demonstrate Observer Threat Forensics at the RSA Conference from March 23-26 in San Francisco. The company will present on network visibility for security and performance at the conference on March 24.
