March 17, 2026 5:00 PM

AptarGroup Inc. (NYSE: ATR) announced that Gael Touya will become president and chief executive officer effective September 1, 2026. Touya, who has spent more than 30 years with the company and currently serves as Aptar Pharma president, will succeed Stephan B. Tanda.

Tanda has served as president and CEO since 2017 and will continue working as an advisor through the end of 2026 to facilitate the transition. He plans to retire from Aptar's board by the end of 2026, with the board appointing Touya as a director on September 1, 2026.

"Following a thorough succession planning and selection process that considered both internal and external candidates, the Board unanimously concluded that Gael was the best choice to lead Aptar into its next chapter," said Candace Matthews, chairperson of AptarGroup.

Under Touya's leadership since 2018, Aptar Pharma achieved approximately 82% revenue growth. He expanded the segment's technologies and services through acquisitions and organic development, adding regulatory expertise, clinical development support, and digital health capabilities. The segment also advanced respiratory and nasal drug delivery into systemic applications for therapeutic areas including depression, seizures and migraines.

Touya previously held leadership positions across Aptar's business segments, including president of Aptar Food + Beverage and vice president of Business Development for Skincare and Color Cosmetics. He led operations in India, China and Japan, helping establish Aptar's pharmaceutical presence in those markets.

During Tanda's tenure as CEO, adjusted EBITDA margins expanded from approximately 19% at year-end 2017 to approximately 22% at year-end 2025. Adjusted earnings per share grew 67%, and capital returned to shareholders increased approximately 100%. In 2025, Aptar marked its 32nd consecutive year of paying an annually increasing dividend.

AptarGroup is a Crystal Lake, Illinois-based company that develops drug delivery, dosing and protection technologies, and consumer product dispensing systems. The company employs 14,000 people across 20 countries.
