Personalis promotes Dr. Richard Chen to president role
Personalis Inc. (NASDAQ: PSNL) announced the promotion of Dr. Richard Chen to president while he continues serving as chief medical officer. The appointment reflects the company's transition from research and development focus to commercial expansion in minimal residual disease testing.
Dr. Chen will oversee integration of the company's research and development capabilities, biopharma services, reimbursement, quality systems and medical affairs operations. He previously led development of the company's NeXT Personal platform for ultrasensitive MRD testing.
"Rich has been the principal architect of our most significant product and technology leaps, including NeXT Personal, and designed the clinical evidence strategy that has accelerated adoption of our ultrasensitive MRD tests," said Chris Hall, chief executive officer.
The Fremont, California-based company develops genomic testing for precision oncology, focusing on detecting minimal residual disease and cancer recurrence. The NeXT Personal platform combines tumor and normal profiling with algorithms to detect cancer at levels the company states are below previously achievable thresholds.
Dr. Chen stated the company's goal is "to make ultrasensitive MRD testing the standard of care for every cancer patient, ensuring earlier detection and better outcomes."
The promotion comes as Personalis seeks to scale its commercial operations and integrate its technology into pharmaceutical drug trials and physician workflows. The company aims to accelerate revenue growth through expanded market adoption of its MRD testing platform.
