Marvell introduces 260-lane PCIe 6.0 switch for AI data centers
Marvell Technology Inc. (NASDAQ: MRVL) announced the Structera S 60260, which the company describes as the industry's first 260-lane PCIe 6.0 switch. The announcement was made at the OFC 2026 conference in Los Angeles.
The switch leverages technology from XConn Technologies, which Marvell recently acquired. According to the company, the new switch provides twice the lane density compared to competing products and is designed for AI data center scale-up infrastructure.
"XConn has been shipping 256-lane PCIe 5.0 switches since 2022. Now, with the industry's first 260-lane PCIe 6.0 switch at nearly double the lane density of the competition, Marvell is setting a new standard for PCIe scale-up performance," said Rishi Chugh, vice president and general manager of Marvell's Data Center Switch Business Unit.
The Structera S switch is designed to work with Marvell's Alaska P PCIe retimer product line. The combined solution enables active electrical cable partners to extend PCIe 6.0 cable reach up to seven meters and active optical cable partners to extend reach beyond seven meters.
The new switch is pin-compatible with Marvell's Structera S CXL 3.0 switch offerings, also announced at the conference. This compatibility allows customers to design hardware platforms that support both PCIe and CXL applications.
Marvell expects to begin sampling the Structera S PCIe 60260 switches to customers in the third quarter of 2026. Engineering test samples are currently available and were demonstrated at OFC 2026. The company's Structera S PCIe 5.0 switches are already available.
The information is based on a company press release statement.
