BlackSky secures seven-figure contract extension from international client
BlackSky Technology Inc. (NYSE: BKSY) announced it signed a seven-figure Assured extension contract with an international customer. The satellite imagery company said the contract represents a transition from early access programs to a larger annual subscription model.
The agreement provides access to BlackSky's dual-generation satellite architecture, combining Gen-2 high-cadence revisit rates with Gen-3 high-resolution imagery at 35-centimeter resolution. The company recently launched its fourth Gen-3 satellite, which delivered first light imagery within hours of launch.
"Assured is more than access to capacity. It's about guaranteed collection fulfillments that provide certainty for mission critical operations," said BlackSky CEO Brian O'Toole. "Annual, recurring commitments for Assured represent a positive, natural evolution as early access programs pivot into long-term customer relationships across our expanding international portfolio."
The Assured service offers guaranteed satellite imagery collection, contrasting with the company's On-Demand service. BlackSky operates a constellation of satellites that provide real-time intelligence and monitoring services to government agencies and commercial customers.
The company manufactures its own satellites and operates software and AI analytics platforms. Each Gen-3 satellite has delivered initial images showing vehicles, maritime vessels, aircraft, and individual people, according to the press release statement.
BlackSky is headquartered in Herndon, Virginia, and serves U.S. and international government agencies as well as commercial organizations worldwide.
