ADP reports US private employers added 9,000 jobs weekly in late February
ADP (NASDAQ: ADP) reported that U.S. private employers added an average of 9,000 jobs per week for the four weeks ending February 28, 2026, according to the company's NER Pulse weekly employment update released March 17.
The figure represents a decline from previous weeks, with ADP noting that hiring stepped back at the end of February after several weeks of strengthening. The four-week moving average for the week ending February 21 was 14,750 jobs, while the week ending February 14 showed 15,500 jobs added.
The NER Pulse data shows weekly job additions ranging from 4,250 to 15,500 over the past three months. The highest weekly average occurred during the week ending February 14, 2026, while the lowest was recorded for the weeks ending January 10 and December 27, 2025.
ADP's preliminary estimates are based on seasonally adjusted data with a two-week lag and could change as new information becomes available. The NER Pulse tracks week-over-week employment changes using a four-week moving average derived from ADP's payroll processing data.
The company publishes the NER Pulse every Tuesday at 8:15 a.m. ET, except during weeks when ADP releases its monthly National Employment Report. The next NER Pulse release is scheduled for March 24, 2026.
ADP Research produces the employment reports in collaboration with the Stanford Digital Economy Lab. The data covers private sector employment and excludes government jobs.
