Dell announces AI data platform with NVIDIA storage enhancements

March 16, 2026 4:36 PM

Dell Technologies (NYSE: DELL) announced enhancements to its AI Data Platform with NVIDIA that include new data orchestration tools and storage performance improvements for enterprise artificial intelligence applications.

The platform incorporates Dell's Data Orchestration Engine, powered by technology from its Dataloop acquisition, which automates data discovery, labeling, and transformation processes. The engine includes a marketplace with NVIDIA NIM microservices, NVIDIA AI Blueprints, and over 200 models and applications.

Dell will support NVIDIA's AI-Q blueprint for building AI agents and plans to integrate NVIDIA STX, a modular reference design using NVIDIA Vera Rubin NVL72 and BlueField-4 DPUs. The platform will also include NVIDIA RTX PRO Blackwell Server Edition GPUs for data processing acceleration.

Storage innovations include Dell Lightning File System, which delivers up to 150 GB per second per rack, and Dell Exascale Storage, which combines file, object, and parallel file system storage on Dell PowerEdge servers. The system supports read performance up to 6TB per second per rack.

Dell added support for NVIDIA CMX context memory storage platform and KV Cache on shared storage across its storage systems. New testing shows Dell PowerScale's architecture delivers up to 6X faster performance with large files compared to NFSv3.

The Dell AI Factory with NVIDIA has over 4,000 customers, with early adopters reporting up to 2.6x ROI within the first year, according to an Enterprise Strategy Group analysis commissioned by Dell.

Availability varies by component, with some features available now and others planned for release throughout 2026. Dell Lightning File System will be available in April 2026, while Dell Exascale Storage is targeted for early second half of 2026.
