Silicon Motion displays AI storage controllers at NVIDIA GTC

March 16, 2026 4:34 PM

Silicon Motion Technology Corporation (NASDAQ: SIMO) announced it will showcase enterprise SSD controllers and PCIe NVMe boot drive solutions at NVIDIA GTC 2026, according to a press release from the company.

The Taiwan-based NAND flash controller manufacturer will demonstrate storage solutions at Booth #3015 designed for AI infrastructure requirements. The company's portfolio includes controllers for multiple storage tiers within AI systems, from boot drives to high-performance near-GPU storage.

Silicon Motion will display its MonTitan enterprise SSD controllers, including the SM8466 and SM8366 models, which the company states are designed for NVIDIA's Inference Context Memory Storage (ICMS) initiative. The controllers utilize the company's PerformaShape technology for workload optimization.

"NAND storage is becoming a strategic layer in AI infrastructure," said Wallace Kou, President and CEO of Silicon Motion. "As inference context continues to expand, storage must deliver not only high capacity, but also deterministic latency, sustained bandwidth, and predictable quality-of-service."

The company's demonstration will include storage solutions for different AI infrastructure tiers: ICMS for KV cache extension, near-GPU high-performance storage, compute-optimized storage, and nearline storage with TLC and QLC NAND support. Silicon Motion will also showcase enterprise PCIe NVMe BGA boot SSDs and the SM8008 boot drive controller.

Avery Pham, VP of Operations Strategy at VAST Data, commented on the partnership: "Flexible, high-performance SSD controller technologies, such as those developed by Silicon Motion, are crucial for enabling the performance consistency and scalability required to activate massive AI datasets across tiers."

Silicon Motion describes itself as a global leader in NAND flash controllers for solid-state storage devices, serving customers including NAND flash vendors, data center providers, and storage device manufacturers.
