Iran rejects ceasefire, says will keep Hormuz open to non-combatants
Investing.com -- Iran has not requested a ceasefire in its ongoing conflict with Israel and the U.S., Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi said Monday, according to the semi-official Students News Network. Araqchi stated that Tehran wants to ensure any end to the war is definitive.
The foreign minister clarified that the Strait of Hormuz remains closed only to "enemies and those supporting their aggression." A foreign ministry spokesperson, Baghaei, added that countries not involved in the conflict have been able to transit their vessels through the strait with coordination and permission from Iran's armed forces.
Araqchi said no messages have been exchanged with the U.S. He emphasized that the war needs to end in a way that ensures it doesn't happen again.
Baghaei stated that Iranian armed forces announce every target they attack and clarify which targets they did not strike.
