Maple integrates AI phone ordering with Shift4's SkyTab restaurant systems
Maple announced an integration with Shift4 (NYSE: FOUR) to provide AI-powered phone ordering for restaurants using SkyTab point-of-sale systems across the United States.
The integration allows Maple's voice AI to connect directly with SkyTab, pulling menu data including items, pricing and availability automatically. Phone orders taken by the AI system appear immediately on SkyTab kitchen display systems and receipt printers without requiring additional hardware or manual data entry.
According to the companies, restaurants miss approximately 40% of phone calls during peak hours, with the average restaurant losing more than $30,000 annually in unrealized phone orders. The partnership aims to address this by providing 24/7 phone answering capabilities.
"Restaurant owners constantly tell us that they can't afford to hire dedicated phone staff, but they also can't afford to miss calls," said Aidan Chau, CEO and Founder of Maple. "Partnering with Shift4 allows us to bring AI phone ordering to thousands of SkyTab restaurants with an integration that just works."
The system handles order taking, reservations, catering inquiries and frequently asked questions. Customers can pay over the phone or upon pickup, with transactions processing through Shift4's existing payment infrastructure.
Maple launched in December 2023 and reports answering over 1 million calls for restaurants with a 94% resolution rate without human intervention. The company serves over 2,500 merchants and integrates with multiple POS systems.
The integration is available through the SkyTab Marketplace for all SkyTab merchants in the United States. Restaurant operators can also contact their Shift4 representative to activate the service.
