Accenture becomes official consulting partner of golf's R&A through 2031
Accenture (NYSE: ACN) has entered a six-year partnership with The R&A, golf's governing body, that will run until 2031, according to a company statement.
Under the agreement, Accenture will serve as the Official Business and Technology Consulting Partner of The R&A and become an Official Patron of three major golf championships: The Open, AIG Women's Open, and ISPS HANDA Senior Open.
The consulting firm will provide business transformation and management consulting services to support The R&A's strategic priorities across governance, championships and sport development. Accenture will apply expertise in digital technology, cloud computing, data analytics and artificial intelligence to modernize golf operations and enhance fan and player experiences.
"Accenture has a renowned reputation worldwide for its expertise in technology, data and innovation and we see this partnership as a valuable opportunity to support our strategic priorities in golf," said Mark Darbon, Chief Executive of The R&A.
Mauro Macchi, CEO of Accenture in EMEA, stated the partnership will "apply technology, data, and AI to help open the game to an even wider audience" and support The R&A's mission to grow golf globally.
The partnership will involve collaboration on activating Accenture's patron status across the three championships, supporting storytelling and the global reach of the tournaments. Accenture will also help modernize how the sport is governed and delivered, building on the company's experience working with major global sports organizations.
The R&A, based in St. Andrews, Scotland, governs golf worldwide except in the United States and Mexico.
