Keysight introduces 220 GHz lightwave component analyzer

March 12, 2026 11:00 AM

Keysight Technologies Inc. (NYSE: KEYS) announced the launch of its N4378A Lightwave Component Analyzer, which provides S-parameter measurements up to 220 GHz for testing optical transceiver components used in data center and artificial intelligence applications.

The analyzer integrates with Keysight's PNA-X Vector Network Analyzer and frequency extenders to enable single-sweep measurements up to 220 GHz at 1310 nm and 1550 nm wavelengths. The system targets validation of 1.6/3.2 Tb/s optical transmitter and receiver components.

The N4378A supports both O-band data center interconnects and C/L-band terrestrial and submarine applications. It includes differential measurement capability for dual-drive optical modulators and features a quick-release mechanical fixture for 0.5 mm coaxial connections.

"With the introduction of Keysight's 220 GHz Lightwave Component Analyzer, we are enabling the industry to validate transceiver component designs for next-generation optical interconnects," said Dr. Joachim Peerlings, Vice President of Network and Data Center Solutions at Keysight.

The company developed the system with industry partners for RF probes, coaxial adapters, and test cables to support the 0.5 mm coaxial ecosystem. Enhanced software accompanies the analyzer to simplify setup and provide measurement analysis capabilities.

Keysight will demonstrate the analyzer at OFC 2026, scheduled for March 17-19, 2026 in Los Angeles. The information is based on a company press release.
