AES deploys AI safety platform across US energy operations

March 12, 2026 7:02 AM

The AES Corporation (NYSE: AES) announced the deployment of Haven Safety AI across its U.S. utilities and renewable energy facilities, marking one of the energy sector's first large-scale implementations of an AI-driven safety investigation platform.

The Arlington, Virginia-based energy company reported that the AI platform has reduced safety incident investigation time by more than 50% while improving root cause identification and visibility into systemic risks across multiple sites.

"Instead of spending time compiling reports behind a desk, our teams can now focus on understanding risk on site," said Chantz Horman, Director of US Operations and Construction Health & Safety at AES. "We have seen a 50% reduction in root cause analysis safety investigation labor time with the adoption of Haven Safety AI."

Haven Safety AI was developed with strategic backing from AI Fund and AES. The company moved from co-founding to commercial deployment in less than nine months, according to the press release.

Joseph Hanna, Co-Founder and CEO of Haven, stated that AES is demonstrating how AI can be embedded directly into investigation workflows to help teams move faster and uncover systemic risks earlier.

The platform uses artificial intelligence combined with a structured industry knowledge graph to analyze incident data and identify patterns that previously required weeks of manual analysis. AES reported improvements in investigation speed, precision of root cause identification, and proactive prevention capabilities.

Haven Safety Corporation is now working with enterprise customers across energy, construction, manufacturing, and logistics sectors to implement similar safety capabilities, according to the announcement.

The deployment represents AES's move from traditional manual safety reporting to what the company describes as a proactive, AI-native approach for protecting workers across its U.S. operations.
