F5 launches observability tool and updates platform for AI workloads

March 11, 2026 12:00 PM

F5 Inc. (NASDAQ: FFIV) announced enhancements to its Application Delivery and Security Platform at the AppWorld conference, including the launch of F5 Insight for ADSP, an observability and analytics tool for organizations using F5 BIG-IP solutions.

F5 Insight provides unified visibility across application and infrastructure layers using OpenTelemetry tools. The solution offers real-time monitoring, AI-driven analytics through Model Context Protocol integration, and support for large language models to generate operational guidance through natural language interactions.

The company also previewed BIG-IP v21.1 software, scheduled for general availability in the second quarter of 2026. The update includes support for NIST-compliant post-quantum cryptography ciphers, enhanced protection for AI workloads through Model Context Protocol capabilities, and improved security for APIs defined by OpenAPI 3.1 specification.

F5 NGINX now includes agentic observability powered by MCP traffic visibility, allowing organizations to monitor AI agent behavior and traffic patterns. This capability is available in NGINX Open Source, with enterprise support through F5 NGINX Plus.

The company restructured its Distributed Cloud Services packaging into two starter packages, Essentials and Enterprise, which include integrated content delivery network and API security capabilities. The new packaging replaces multiple individual product codes with bundled offerings.

"Most operations teams are stuck babysitting complexity they did not sign up for," said Kunal Anand, Chief Product Officer at F5. "F5 ADSP collapses that mess into a platform. With F5 Insight, we turn scattered telemetry into a clear story and the next best action."

F5 Insight for ADSP is available as self-managed software with plans to extend capabilities to F5 NGINX and Distributed Cloud Services. The company plans to offer a software-as-a-service model in the future.
