Lucid Group Inc. (NASDAQ: LCID) began rolling out Apple CarPlay and Android Auto to existing Lucid Gravity owners through an over-the-air software update, the company said in a statement.

The update, part of Lucid UX 3.5, started deploying to North American customers on March 12 and is scheduled to reach customers in the Middle East and Europe in late March. Both features are now standard on all new Lucid Gravity SUVs.

The smartphone integration features allow users to access maps, media, messaging and phone functions through the vehicle's Clearview Cockpit display. Both wireless and USB connections are supported for the integration.

"Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are two of the most sought-after features by our customers," said Emad Dlala, senior vice president of engineering and software at Lucid.

Lucid Air sedans already include Apple CarPlay and Android Auto as standard features. The company assembles both the Air sedan and Gravity SUV at facilities in Arizona and Saudi Arabia.

The update represents part of Lucid's approach to enhance vehicle features through over-the-air software updates rather than requiring physical service visits.
