Weight Watchers reports enhanced weight loss with GLP-1 medication support
WW International Inc. (NASDAQ: WW) released findings showing that members using GLP-1 medications combined with the company's support program achieved greater weight loss than those using medication alone.
According to the company's GLP-1 Results Report, Weight Watchers Med+ members who regularly engaged with the GLP-1 Success Program lost 61% more body weight in the first month and 29% more at one year compared to those who took medication without additional support.
The report states that Med+ members prescribed medication lost 7.4 pounds in the first four weeks and achieved 21% average weight loss at 12 months and 20.5% at 24 months. Weight Watchers claims its Med+ members reported over 30% more weight loss than select competitors at 12 months.
"To maximize the impact of these medical breakthroughs, Weight Watchers has established an integrated weight health platform that combines medication with structured nutritional, behavioral, and lifestyle supports," said CEO Tara Comonte.
The GLP-1 Success Program includes access to physicians, FDA-approved prescriptions, and lifestyle support designed to address side effects, nutrition gaps, and weight plateaus. The program offers nutrition tracking, fitness sessions, dietitian access, and workshops led by healthcare professionals.
Additional findings from the report indicate that 72% of members said the program helped minimize GLP-1 side effects, and 87% of members with high blood pressure at the start of treatment had normal blood pressure after 12 months. The company also reported that 75% of members experienced improved confidence and quality of life.
The findings are based on Weight Watchers' internal analysis of member data from its Med+ platform and GLP-1 Success Program.
