Kala Bio plans to ship first AI agent within 14 days
Kala Bio Inc. (NASDAQ: KALA) announced it expects to deliver its first commercial AI product within approximately 14 days, according to a company statement. The clinical-stage biopharmaceutical company said it has completed a rebrand of its Researgency.ai platform and is positioning itself to serve both biotechnology development and AI platform services.
The company said its scientists are working with Younet's AI engineering team to build the first custom AI agent. "The rebrand was important, but the real story is what happens next, we launch," said Avi Minkowitz, CEO of Kala Bio. "Our first agent ships in 14 days."
The Researgency.ai platform is designed to deploy AI agents for biotech and pharmaceutical companies, targeting tasks including research intelligence, clinical trial documentation, regulatory compliance, safety monitoring, and commercial launch preparation. The company said the platform operates in a secure, auditable environment designed for pharmaceutical-grade compliance.
Kala Bio said it holds FDA Orphan Drug and Fast Track designations for certain product candidates in its biologics pipeline, which includes a mesenchymal stem cell secretome platform. The company has an exclusive worldwide license for the Researgency AI research platform from Younet.
The company cited Gartner data showing a 1,445% increase in enterprise inquiries about multi-agent AI systems from Q1 2024 to Q2 2025. The global AI-in-healthcare market is projected to exceed $180 billion by 2030, according to industry projections referenced by the company.
The announcement outlined the company's strategy to combine its existing drug development pipeline with AI platform services targeting the biotechnology industry. Information was based on a company press release.
