Confluent gains FedRAMP authorization for government cloud service

March 10, 2026 9:01 AM

Confluent Inc. (NASDAQ: CFLT) received Federal Risk and Authorization Management Program (FedRAMP) Moderate Authorization to Operate for its Confluent Cloud for Government service on Amazon Web Services GovCloud.

The authorization allows government and private agencies to use the data streaming platform, which runs on AWS infrastructure designed for sensitive government workloads. The service is now listed on the FedRAMP Marketplace.

"FedRAMP authorization represents more than a compliance checkbox; it demonstrates our commitment to empowering government agencies to fulfill their missions with data streaming," said Michael Wallace, General Manager, Public Sector at Confluent.

The U.S. Government Accountability Office reports that nearly 80% of IT resources are spent maintaining existing systems. Confluent's managed service aims to reduce operational overhead for agencies using Apache Kafka for data streaming applications.

Confluent Cloud for Government operates within AWS GovCloud, allowing agencies to deploy production-ready data streaming infrastructure while maintaining compliance requirements. The service supports real-time data applications across cybersecurity, smart cities, and financial data exchange.

Carahsoft Technology Corp. serves as a reseller partner for the service. "Confluent Cloud for Government is the fastest path to data streaming for federal agencies without added management complexities or security headaches," said Natalie Gregory, Vice President for Open Source and DevSecOps Solutions at Carahsoft.

The service is available through multiple government contract vehicles, including GSA Schedule 47QSWA18D008F and SEWP V contracts. Agencies can leverage existing AWS commitments when adopting the platform.

Confluent will host a Public Sector Summit on March 12, 2026, according to the company's announcement.
