March 10, 2026 8:05 AM

Butterfly Network Inc. (NYSE: BFLY) appointed David Horsley as Senior Vice President of Innovation for Butterfly Embedded to lead the company's ultrasound chip licensing and co-development business.

Horsley, co-founder of Chirp Microsystems, will oversee strategy and commercialization for Butterfly Embedded, which allows partners to integrate the company's ultrasound technology into new products and applications beyond point-of-care medical devices.

The executive brings experience from TDK InvenSense, where he served as Chief Technology Officer of the Emerging Sensors Business Unit. He co-founded Chirp Microsystems, a sensor company that TDK acquired, and previously held roles at Hewlett Packard Laboratories and Onix Microsystems.

Horsley currently serves as Professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering and Co-Director of the Institute for NanoSystems Innovation at Northeastern University. He also holds an adjunct position at the University of California, Berkeley's Mechanical Engineering department.

"Momentum around Butterfly Embedded is increasing, with a growing pipeline of inbound demand and early collaborations beginning to contribute revenue," said Joseph DeVivo, Butterfly's CEO.

Butterfly Embedded focuses on extending the reach of the company's semiconductor ultrasound platform through partnerships with organizations developing ultrasound-enabled technologies. The program represents an expansion beyond Butterfly's core medical imaging business, which includes the Butterfly iQ3 portable ultrasound device.

The information is based on a company press release.
