Palvella launches disease awareness campaign for rare lymphatic condition
Palvella Therapeutics (NASDAQ: PVLA) launched the "BEYOND mLM" disease awareness campaign to educate patients, caregivers, and healthcare professionals about microcystic lymphatic malformations. The campaign includes a website at BEYONDmLM.com designed to provide information about the rare condition.
The company developed the campaign in collaboration with five nonprofit organizations: the Consortium of iNvestigators of Vascular AnomalieS, Lymphangiomatosis & Gorham's Disease Alliance, the Lymphatic Education & Research Network, Pediatric Dermatology Research Alliance, and VAccess.org.
Microcystic lymphatic malformations affect an estimated more than 30,000 diagnosed patients in the United States, according to the company. The condition involves malformed lymphatic vessels that can protrude through skin and leak lymph fluid, potentially leading to infections requiring hospitalization. No FDA-approved therapies currently exist for the condition.
"Patients with microcystic lymphatic malformations often lack access to educational materials written in a way that is accessible and practical," said Dr. Michael Kelly, pediatric hematologist-oncologist at Cleveland Clinic's Vascular Anomalies Program and Executive Director of LGDA.
The campaign plans to add patient stories, expert insights, and resources to support the microcystic lymphatic malformation community. Palvella is a clinical-stage biopharmaceutical company focused on developing therapies for rare skin diseases and vascular malformations.
The information is based on a company press release statement.
