Atlas Energy Solutions signs power equipment deal with Caterpillar

March 10, 2026 7:04 AM

Atlas Energy Solutions Inc. (NYSE: AESI) announced it has entered into a Global Framework Agreement with Caterpillar Inc. (NYSE: CAT) for approximately 1.4 gigawatts of power generation equipment, with orders scheduled from 2027 through 2029.

The agreement involves approximately $840 million in aggregate purchase obligations over the term. Atlas stated it forecasts to own and operate approximately 2.0 gigawatts of power generation assets by 2030 with the successful deployment of these assets.

The equipment will include natural gas reciprocating generator sets, specifically CG260-16 stationary units for behind-the-meter deployments and G3520 series units for both behind-the-meter and bridge power applications. Under the agreement, Atlas will provide rolling demand forecasts while Caterpillar will reserve corresponding manufacturing capacity.

John Turner, President and CEO of Atlas, stated the agreement ensures "supply certainty, pricing discipline, and execution reliability" as the company builds out its power platform. Turner cited AI infrastructure build-out and manufacturing reshoring as drivers of power demand growth, with grid limitations pushing industrial customers toward private grid solutions.

Atlas Energy Solutions provides distributed power systems, oilfield logistics, and proppant supply services, with operations focused in the Permian Basin. The company has posted an investor presentation titled "Long-Term Power Strategy" on its website.

The information is based on a company press release statement.
