Planet Fitness Inc. (NYSE: PLNT) appointed Tom Fitzgerald as interim chief financial officer following the departure of Jay Stasz from the company. Fitzgerald previously served as Planet Fitness CFO from 2020 through 2024.

The fitness chain has begun searching for a permanent CFO with assistance from an executive search firm. The company reaffirmed its 2026 financial guidance that was announced on February 24, 2026.

"Tom brings deep institutional knowledge of our business and industry, and a proven track record of strong financial and business leadership," said Colleen Keating, chief executive officer of Planet Fitness, in a statement.

Fitzgerald has more than four decades of experience in senior finance and operating roles across multi-unit consumer businesses. During his previous tenure at Planet Fitness, he oversaw financial strategy, capital allocation and investor relations, and played a role in acquiring one of the company's largest franchisees.

Before joining Planet Fitness, Fitzgerald served as CFO at Potbelly Sandwich Works and held leadership positions at Charming Charlie, Sears Canada, Liz Claiborne, Burlington Coat Factory, and Bath & Body Works. He began his career at PepsiCo.

As of December 31, 2025, Planet Fitness operated 2,896 clubs with approximately 20.8 million members across the United States, Canada, Panama, Mexico, Australia and Spain. About 90% of Planet Fitness clubs are owned and operated by independent franchisees.
