Hims & Hers Health Inc. (NYSE: HIMS) announced the launch of a multi-cancer early detection blood test through a partnership with GRAIL Inc. The test, called the Hims & Hers Multi-Cancer Test by Galleri, screens for signals from more than 50 types of cancer, including those without recommended screening protocols.

The Galleri test uses blood analysis to detect cancer signals and predict their likely location in the body. The company states the test can identify cancer signals before symptoms appear, though it does not detect all cancers and can produce false positive and false negative results.

GRAIL's test targets cancers that often go undetected until later stages, such as pancreatic and ovarian cancers. The test is recommended for adults with elevated cancer risk, particularly those aged 50 and older, and is intended to supplement routine cancer screenings recommended by healthcare providers.

Hims & Hers customers can add the test to existing Labs plans at a $250 discount from the Galleri list price. The test requires a prescription and is not available in all 50 states. The Galleri test has not received FDA clearance or approval and is regulated under Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments standards.

The test must be interpreted by healthcare providers and requires confirmatory diagnostic evaluation if cancer signals are detected. GRAIL's clinical laboratory holds CLIA certification and College of American Pathologists accreditation.

According to cancer statistics cited in the announcement, more than one in three people will develop cancer during their lifetime. The companies position the test as addressing gaps in cancer detection, particularly for aggressive cancers that lack established screening methods.
