Adeia sues AMD for patent infringement in Texas federal court

November 3, 2025 8:05 AM

Adeia Inc. (NASDAQ: ADEA) filed patent infringement lawsuits against Advanced Micro Devices Inc. in the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Texas, the company announced.

The litigation involves ten patents from Adeia's semiconductor intellectual property portfolio, including seven patents covering hybrid bonding technology and three patents covering advanced process node technology.

"For years, AMD's products have incorporated and made extensive use of Adeia's patented semiconductor innovations, which have greatly contributed to their success as a market leader," said Paul E. Davis, chief executive officer of Adeia. "After prolonged efforts to reach a mutually agreeable resolution without litigation, we believe this step was necessary to defend our intellectual property from AMD's continued unauthorized use."

Adeia claims AMD has been using its patented technologies without authorization. The company said it attempted to resolve the matter outside of court before filing the lawsuit.

Davis stated the company remains open to reaching an arrangement that reflects the value of its intellectual property while being prepared to pursue resolution through the courts.

Adeia maintains a portfolio of more than 13,000 worldwide patent assets developed over four decades of research and development. The company licenses its intellectual property across the media and semiconductor industries.

The information is based on a press release statement from Adeia.
