General Motors delays plans for EV truck production at Michigan plant by one year

October 17, 2023 1:58 PM

Investing.com -- General Motors said Tuesday it is pushing back production of electric trucks at its Orion Assembly plant in Michigan by one year to late-2025.

The automaker said the delay would allow it "to better manage capital investment while aligning with evolving EV demand," adding that plans to implement engineering improvements would also help improve the profitability of its products.

The company detailed plans in January last year to invest $4 billion to retool and expand its Orion plant for electric truck production.

General Motors Company (NYSE: GM) rose 0.9% but was down from session highs of about $30.61.
