Walt Disney (DIS) CEO tells staff to return to the office 4 days per week - CNBC

January 9, 2023 1:03 PM

Walt Disney (NYSE: DIS) Chief Executive Bob Iger has reportedly told staff at the mass media and entertainment conglomerate that they need to work from its corporate offices four days a week starting March 1.

Iger returned to Disney as CEO in November after former CEO Bob Chapek's rocky tenure.

CNBC said that an email they had obtained revealed Iger had pointed to the importance of in-person collaboration. He is said to have told Disney employees that in "a creative business like ours, nothing can replace the ability to connect, observe, and create with peers that comes from being physically together."

The pandemic resulted in companies allowing employees to work from home, a trend that has in many workplaces continued long after restrictions, and Covid related guidance has been lifted.

However, Disney is looking to bring staff back to more of a pre-pandemic work environment, with Iger's four day's a week in the office rule stricter than many other large firms which have opted for a more hybrid model.
