Apple (AAPL) Delays MacBook Deliveries Amid Covid Lockdowns - Report

April 14, 2022 5:45 AM

Delivery dates for Appleā€™s (NASDAQ: AAPL) Macbook Pro laptops are being pushed back into June, suggesting that the tech giant may be facing production issues due to coronavirus restrictions in China, according to Bloomberg.

The shipment delays emphasize that Apple is struggling to overcome supply chain issues, which is particularly difficult now that China introduced tighter lockdown measures to curb the spread of Covid-19.

The delivery estimates for the more affordable configuration of the 14-inch MacBook Pro were also delayed to May 26 as of Wednesday, marking a significant difference from recent days.

Over 30 Taiwanese companies including Apple laptop manufacturer Quanta Computer have suspended production due to Covid. Quanta has also halted production at its Shanghai factory to comply with Beijing's restriction measures.

Consumers who are trying to buy the high-performing $3,499 MacBook Pro model are seeing delivery dates as late as June 16 in The U.S. On the other hand, products like Macbook Air, iMac, 13-inch MacBook Pro, and Mac mini are still seeing normal delivery estimates.
