Amazon (AMZN) Makes Grocery Delivery Free for Prime Members

October 29, 2019 7:12 AM

Amazon (NASDAQ: AMZN) announced today that Amazon Fresh, which was previously $14.99/month, is now a free benefit for Prime members.

Amazon said now members get free and fast grocery delivery from Amazon Fresh and Whole Foods Market. Selection includes meat, seafood, produce, snacks and household essentials, with options for fast one- and two-hour delivery windows.

“Prime members love the convenience of free grocery delivery on Amazon, which is why we’ve made Amazon Fresh a free benefit of Prime, saving customers $14.99 per month,” said Stephenie Landry, VP of Grocery Delivery. “Grocery delivery is one of the fastest growing businesses at Amazon, and we think this will be one of the most-loved Prime benefits.”

Given the rapid growth of grocery delivery we expect this will be a popular benefit, so today Prime members currently shopping grocery delivery can continue enjoying these services. All other Prime members who live in one of the more than 2,000 cities and towns where grocery delivery is available can request an invitation to shop Amazon Fresh or Whole Foods Market delivery at www.amazon.com/grocery, and we’ll alert you when you are able to shop.

Customers are hungry for options that help them solve for both weekly meal planning and the moments when they need groceries in a pinch. Fast and free grocery delivery with Amazon Fresh and Whole Foods Market accomplishes both those needs. In addition to giving Prime members free access to unlimited grocery delivery in select areas, we’ve been busy making grocery shopping on Amazon even more convenient:
