In light of recent market rumors, the LVMH Group confirms that it has held preliminary discussions regarding a possible transaction with Tiffany (NYSE: TIF).

LVMH said there can be no assurance that these discussions will result in any agreement.

One source familiar with the matter told Reuters the proposed bid valued Tiffany at about $120 per share.
