Shares of Facebook (NASDAQ: FB) are up 2.4% in early trading Tuesday after the company revealed plans to launch a cryptocurrency called Libra.

Facebook has partnered with 28 firms in a Geneva-based entity called the Libra Association, which will govern its new digital coin set to launch in the first half of 2020.
