American Eagle Outfitters (AEO) Tops Q4 EPS by 1c, Q1 Guidance Misses Views

American Eagle Outfitters (NYSE: AEO) reported Q4 EPS of $0.43, $0.01 better than the analyst estimate of $0.42. Revenue for the quarter came in at $1.24 billion versus the consensus estimate of $1.25 billion.
Consolidated comparable sales increased 6% over the comparable period ending February 3, 2018, following an 8% increase last year.
GUIDANCE:
American Eagle Outfitters sees Q1 2019 EPS of $0.19-$0.21, versus the consensus of $0.24.
- Based on an anticipated comparable sales increase in the low single digits, management expects first quarter 2019 EPS to be approximately $0.19 to $0.21. This guidance excludes potential asset impairment and restructuring charges. Last year’s first quarter reported EPS of $0.22 included $0.01 of restructuring charges.
