Amazon (NASDAQ: AMZN) plans to open dozens of grocery stores across the U.S. at a lower price point than Whole Foods, the Wall Street Journal reported citing people familiar with the matter.

Los Angeles could get the first store at the end of the year, the Journal said.

The company has already signed leases for at least two other locations with openings planned earlier next year, the report added.
