COLUMBIA, Md.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Corporate Office Properties Trust (“COPT” or the “Company”) (NYSE: OFC) has executed an 18,000 square foot lease with The Maryland Innovation and Security Institute (“MISI”) in the Columbia Gateway Business & Innovation Center in Columbia, Maryland. In response to United States Cyber Command (“USCYBERCOM”) awarding them a five-year Partnership Intermediary Agreement (“PIA”) to innovate new technologies, MISI is establishing a cyber innovation, collaboration, and prototyping facility in Columbia Gateway, which is within 10 miles of Fort Meade where USCYBERCOM is located. “We are honored to provide a state-of-the-art facility to support MISI’s expanding cybersecurity mandate,” stated Paul R. Adkins, COPT’s Executive Vice President & Chief Operating Officer. “Columbia Gateway already has proven to be a go-to location for cybersecurity and advanced technology companies. Since the formation of U.S. Cyber Command in late 2010 and including this transaction, 38% of our new leasing in Columbia Gateway has been with cyber tenants, and we estimate that 25% of the park’s four million square feet of office space is leased to cybersecurity companies. We believe that MISI’s collaborative culture and business practices will attract additional cybersecurity firms who seek to accelerate the growth and production of their technological solutions in support of our national security priorities.”
