Ecolab (NYSE: ECL) reported Q1 EPS of $0.91, $0.01 better than the analyst estimate of $0.90. Revenue for the quarter came in at $3.47 billion versus the consensus estimate of $3.38 billion.

FIRST QUARTER HIGHLIGHTS:

• Reported diluted EPS $0.84, -2%.
• Adjusted diluted EPS $0.91, +14%, excluding special gains and charges and discrete tax items.
• Reported sales +10%. Acquisition adjusted fixed currency sales +6% with solid growth in all segments.
• Strong sales gains, pricing, new product innovation and cost savings offset higher delivered product costs. Lower taxes and interest expense also benefited the adjusted EPS gain.
