Statewide Online Public Charter School Offers Alternative to Brick-and-Mortar Education

PHOENIX--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Arizona Virtual Academy (AZVA), an accredited online public charter school, welcomes families to apply for enrollment for the 2018-19 school year. AZVA is available tuition-free to students in kindergarten through 12th grade who reside anywhere in the state of Arizona.

AZVA combines online instruction, rigorous curriculum and the support of state-certified teachers to provide a personalized education experience for each student. AZVA students access a robust online curriculum and attend live virtual classes.

The rigorous and engaging curriculum includes courses in English/language arts, math, science, history, world languages, art and music, as well as Advanced Placement® courses for high schoolers. Students also have the opportunity to earn concurrent enrollment credit, meaning they can earn college credit while still enrolled in high school, at no cost to the family, as long as the student meets the eligibility criteria.

At AZVA, state-certified teachers monitor student progress while providing professional insight and instruction. Teachers interact with students and families via phone, email, web-based classrooms and online discussions.

AZVA also offers a blended learning program, combining online courses with in-person instruction and support. Blended learning centers are located throughout the Phoenix Metro area, as well as Kingman and Tucson, and feature on-site support, student enrichment and socialization opportunities.

AZVA provides families and students an alternative to traditional brick-and-mortar education. The school uses the curriculum provided by K12 Inc., the nation’s leading provider of proprietary K-12 curriculum and online education programs. Students choose online school for a variety of reasons, including advanced learning, a bullying-free environment and schedule flexibility to facilitate extracurricular pursuits or medical needs. AZVA’s online platform gives students the flexibility to pursue their academic goals in a supportive environment at an appropriate pace for their learning style.

“This is an outstanding form of learning,” said Carrie Faulkner, whose 11-year-old son, Campbell suffers from a rare mitochondrial disease. “Since Campbell began at AZVA, he hasn’t missed a day of school. He loves his teachers and can’t wait to log on every day and learn.”

During the enrollment period, AZVA will be conducting online and in-person information sessions throughout the state. Interested families are encouraged to attend to meet teachers, staff and other families. For more information, visit http://azva.k12.com.
