Aerohive’s unique SD-LAN architecture is self-learning, self-healing, and self-optimizing. The distributed data and control plane architectural element of Aerohive’s SD-LAN architecture means there is no single point of failure or any of the bottleneck issues commonly associated with legacy Wi-Fi controller-based architecture. With that said, Aerohive knows even the industry’s most reliable platform can still be subject to a Wi-Fi witch hunt when people are experiencing temporary network woes. Usually a mistyped user password, a misconfigured switch VLAN tag, or even a misbehaving RADIUS or DHCP server is often the real culprit. However, Wi-Fi is always the first place users point their finger when experiencing a problem. Therefore, Aerohive has developed a solution to help IT teams identify, isolate, and rapidly remedy common issues that arise on Wi-Fi or the associated network services and infrastructure that support it.

Through a new utilities menu that places multiple troubleshooting tools in one easily accessible and intuitive view, IT staff can run a host of tests to gather relevant data to pinpoint the root cause of client and infrastructure connectivity issues within minutes. Tools include Aerohive’s unique VLAN probing to determine correct tagging and upstream DHCP availability, and RADIUS verification testing to monitor and diagnose failed authentication attempts, along with simulated client authentication tests without the need for a user or device present. Additional helpers include remote SSH, a device locater with LED tuning, and the ability to extract detailed technical support information should it be required.

Aerohive’s new toolset enables helpdesk employees and network administrators to troubleshoot client connectivity issues faster and more effectively, thereby increasing IT operational efficiency and ensuring a consistently positive end-user experience when using Wi-Fi.
