Will Tesla (TSLA) Squeeze the Shorts?

February 9, 2016 12:31 PM

While still a bear on the stock, Barclays analyst Brian Johnson is telling clients Tesla's (NASDAQ: TSLA) stock could rebound near term on a short squeeze.

"... near-term we see the opportunity for the stock to rebound - given highly elevated short interest the stock could see a short
squeeze on the print, and the Model 3 unveil in late March may reinvigorate interest in Tesla."

The analyst is still overall negative, saying a slow Model X ramp risk fundamentals. The firm reiterated an Underweight and cut its price target of $165.

Telsa reports results after the close Wednesday.
