Apple (AAPL) May Delay Release of Next-Gen iPhone in China, Japan by One-Week
Two key markets for Apple (Nasdaq: AAPL) -- China and Japan -- might see a week-long delay before the next-generation iPhone handset becomes available to consumers.
According to AppleInsider, citing a report from Japan's Macotakara, Apple might be looking to have more stock ready for its core market, which remains to be the U.S. Pre-orders could commence on September 11th.
The report also said that the next iPhone is going to launch in several other countries on September 18th, though that might be highly speculative given how important of a market China has become over the last few years for Apple.
While Japan was a "first-wave" country in 2014, China may move to the same plateau for this year's launch. In Apple's most recent quarter, Greater China accounted for about 27 percent of the company's revenue, growing 112 percent over the prior-year period.
Why there would be a delay could simply be a supply issue and that stems from manufacturers having a challenging time meeting quality standards. This could be due to a high-level of technology in the upcoming device, and some chatter points to an advanced display as a potential reason.
Shares of Apple are positive Tuesday afternoon.
