BofA/Merrill Lynch Lowered PT, Estimates on Citi (C); Says Stock Can Still Work

January 16, 2015 11:03 AM

BofA/Merrill Lynch analyst Erika Najarian lowered estimates and her price target on Citi (NYSE: C) to $63.00 (from $65.00) following disappointing Q4 results. The analyst, however, is keeping a Buy rating saying despite the tough revenue outlook they like the stock here.

Najarian said while revenues fell short, they think the weakness in the stock has more to do with a lack of confidence in the company's ability to achieve its FY 15 ROA target of 90bp. While visibility is cloudy, the analyst thinks the stock can still work. She describes C as a self-help story and thinks the stock can re-rate to TBV as the Street gains confidence.

The firm lowered FY 2015 EPS from $5.40 to $5.22 and FY 2016 EPS from $5.90 to $5.80.
