VIAVI partners with QNu Labs on quantum-safe network security

December 4, 2025 6:30 AM

Viavi Solutions Inc. (NASDAQ: VIAV) and QNu Labs announced a strategic partnership to develop quantum security and network intelligence technologies. The collaboration aims to create test cases, frameworks, and standards for quantum-safe communications across multiple industries.

The partnership will focus on developing testing mechanisms for quantum-safe technologies including post-quantum cryptography, quantum key distribution, quantum random number generation, and hybrid systems. The companies plan to provide solutions frameworks for enterprises, telecom operators, banking, aerospace, defense, government, and research organizations.

Under the agreement, the companies will develop specifications and reference architectures for quantum-safe communications deployment. This includes defining functional and performance testing standards and integrating quantum-safe algorithms across core, RAN, transport, edge, and cloud network layers.

The alliance will work toward harmonized global approaches to quantum-safe readiness that align with NIST post-quantum cryptography recommendations, ETSI, and other international quantum-safe efforts. The collaboration represents the first phase in creating a global industry consortium for quantum-safe communication.

"Quantum-safe communications is no longer a distant goal but instead an urgent need," said Sameh Yamany, Chief Technology Officer at VIAVI. The company combines fiber optics leadership with quantum research to transition quantum-safe communication from laboratory to practical deployment.

QNu Labs CEO Sunil Gupta described the partnership as "a milestone in the evolution of secure digital communications," combining VIAVI's network intelligence expertise with QNu's quantum-safe security leadership.

VIAVI provides network test, monitoring and assurance solutions for telecommunications, cloud, enterprises, and other sectors. QNu Labs, founded in 2016 at IIT Madras Research Park, operates across the United States, Australia, India, and the Middle East, providing quantum cybersecurity solutions for defense, telecom, finance, government, and enterprise sectors.
