Unusual 11 Mid-Day Movers 10/17: (ANDS) (EP) (BEXP) Higher; (CLWR) (VECO) (CX) Lower

Anadys Pharmaceuticals, Inc. (Nasdaq: ANDS) 250.5% HIGHER; entered into a definitive merger agreement to be acquired by Roche (OTCBB: RHHBY) for $3.70 per share in cash.

El Paso Corporation (NYSE: EP) 24.9% HIGHER; Kinder Morgan, Inc. (NYSE: KMI) and El Paso entered a definitive agreement whereby Kinder Morgan will acquire all of the outstanding shares of El Paso. The total purchase price, including the assumption of debt outstanding at El Paso Corporation and including the debt outstanding at El Paso Pipeline Partners, L.P. (NYSE: EPB) is approximately $38 billion.

Brigham Exploration Company (Nasdaq: BEXP) 19.8% HIGHER; Statoil ASA (NYSE: STO) and Brigham announced today that they have entered into a merger agreement for Statoil to acquire all of the outstanding shares of Brigham for $36.50 per share through an all-cash tender offer.

Shanda Interactive (Nasdaq: SNDA) 17.9% HIGHER; receives $41.35 per ADS offer from its Chairman, CEO and COO Tianqiao Chen.

Delta Petroleum (Nasdaq: DPTR) 16.4% HIGHER; likely trading higher amid the deal for Brigham Exploration.

Clearwire (Nasdaq: CLWR) 12.3% LOWER; continuing to correct this week following a 27 percent rise on Thursday of last week.

Veeco Instruments Inc. (Nasdaq: VECO) 11.1% LOWER; Canaccord Genuity downgrades Veeco from Hold to Sell, price target slashed from $45 to $18.

CEMEX (NYSE: CX) 11% LOWER; correcting this week following a more than 30 percent rise last week.

China Information Technology, Inc. (Nasdaq: CNIT) 10.9% HIGHER; announced that it signed $24.6 million in new contracts during the third quarter of 2011. The Company's core IT business segment contributed 44%, or $10.8 million, of the total contract wins, while its Digital Display segment contributed 56%, or $13.8 million. The Company's third quarter contract wins came from 28 provinces and provincial cities in China.

Green Mountain Coffee Roasters (Nasdaq: GMCR) 10.1% LOWER; hedge fund giant David Einhorn of Greenlight Capital said he is short Green Mountain at the Value Investing Congress Monday. Here is our full write-up of Einhorn's comments.
