District Council President Bruny says that “on behalf of our 75,000 Garden State members, the NY NJ District Council is proud to endorse Gordon Johnson's candidacy for State Senate

LITTLE FALLS, N.J.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Max Bruny, President of United Food and Commercial Workers (UFCW) District Council of New York and New Jersey, this evening issued an endorsement for Assemblyman Gordon Johnson in his candidacy for New Jersey’s State Senate, in the 37th Legislative District.

In his statement, Bruny said:

“The UFCW District Council of New York and New Jersey is proud of the role our members have played throughout the COVID-19 pandemic. From working crushing overtime hours in supermarkets to feeding first responders in Emergency Rooms and triage centers, the men and women of the UFCW have been essential in helping society to navigate safely through this pandemic.

It is during challenging times like these, that we need our elected officials to join with us as real partners, and we have had no greater ally in organized labor than Assemblyman Gordon Johnson.

Assemblyman Johnson has supported our right to unionize without fear of management retaliation, to fight for higher wages and to create safe workplaces for our members. He will keep regressive right-to-work legislation out of New Jersey and will always fight to ensure our union members receive the respect and workplace dignity they deserve. And he has authored legislation to expand critical access to health care, which is a vitally important priority to our membership.

For these reasons and more, we believe Gordon Johnson is a worthy successor to Loretta Weinberg’s progressive legacy. On behalf of our 75,000 Garden State members, the NY NJ District Council is proud to endorse Gordon Johnson's candidacy for State Senate in the 37th Legislative District.”

Sam Ferraino, Jr.,
President of UFCW Local 360,
