ScreenwritingU Announces National Screenwriters Day!

(PRWEB) December 15, 2016

On January 5th, the world will have an opportunity to celebrate the creative vision behind the majority of the movies you've seen -- the screenwriter. ScreenwritingU, known for high-quality professional online screenwriting classes, has founded National Screenwriters Day to honor the creativity and work that goes into the screenwriting long before a single frame of film is shot.

Here's what Ryan Reynolds said about it:

"I'd like to take this chance to thank the screenwriters, not just the ones on Deadpool, but everywhere. It is a hugely undervalued asset in Hollywood. They are the architects. They make us look good." - Ryan Reynolds accepting the 2016 Critics' Choice Award for Best Actor

While directors create the visual part of the movie and actors play the roles, the majority of the time, it was the screenwriter who created the original vision of the movie from scratch. They created the story, the characters, the action, and dialogue that you see on the screen. It is time we start celebrating those screenwriters!

Already, some of the top companies in the industry have joined with ScreenwritingU to get the word out about this important event, including:

Stage 32 (Partner) - World's largest social network for TV and film
Final Draft Industry standard screenwriting software
InkTip Database of over 10,000 producers
PAGE Awards Top screenwriting competition

"But this isn't just about screenwriters in Hollywood," says Hal Croasmun, President of ScreenwritingU. "It is about every person that is sitting in their homes, writing screenplays, and hoping to see their story on the big screen some day. They all deserve to be recognized."

ScreenwritingU believes that the creative spirit of writers should be celebrated. As part of the lead up to National Screenwriters Day, ScreenwritingU will post interviews from screenwriters, directors, and producers to share their experience of working in the film industry.

Screenwriters work both inside and outside the system to get TV shows and movies made. Screenplays and TV pilots can be written on spec, as well as work-for-hire assignments. Screenwriters don't just work for studios and networks, they can also work with small producers and filmmakers to create low budget movies.
