ERI and Fresno Grizzlies to Receive ‘Power of a Partner’ Award after Collecting More than 40,000 Pounds of E-Waste to Benefit Susan G. Komen Central Valley
FRESNO, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Electronic Recyclers International (ERI), the nation’s leading recycler of electronics, partnered with Susan G. Komen® Central Valley, Business Street and the Fresno Grizzlies for a successful e-waste recycling collection event last week at Chukchansi Park. All proceeds will benefit Komen Central Valley. In recognition of their teamwork and efforts, Komen Central Valley will present ERI and the Fresno Grizzlies with the “Power of a Partner” Award tomorrow. The “Power of a Partner” Award is presented to organizations and sponsors that go above and beyond in their efforts to support Komen Central Valley’s causes.
ERI and the Grizzlies gathered more than 40,000 pounds of electronic waste at the event, which was designed to give the local community an opportunity to conveniently unload their old computers, television sets and other outdated, unusable or unwanted consumer electronic devices for recycling. ERI will responsibly recycle all of the e-waste collected at the event, guaranteeing data security and privacy destruction for all material collected.
At no charge, residents were invited to drop off outdated electronics from garages, homes or offices. TVs, computers, monitors, laptops, printers, cell phones, print cartridges and other electronic devices were accepted. Items containing data will undergo ERI's secure data destruction process.
Sharon Johnson, Komen Central Valley Executive Director said, "Komen Central Valley is proud to partner with ERI and the Fresno Grizzlies (Triple-A affiliate of the Houston Astros). Proceeds from this event will help fund no-cost mammograms, diagnostic tests, culturally appropriate breast cancer education programs and treatment for breast cancer survivors."
Chukchansi Park, the home of the Fresno Grizzlies, served as the easy-to-find drop-off point and helped coordinate the extremely successful event. Everyone who brought their e-waste to Chukchansi Park during the event also received a voucher for two Field Level Reserve tickets for a Fresno Grizzlies home game as an added bonus. Over 450 game vouchers were distributed.
“It’s a great honor to have partnered with our friends at Komen Central Valley, Business Street and the Fresno Grizzlies,” said John S. Shegerian, Chairman and CEO of Electronic Recyclers International. “It has been rewarding to be able to provide a responsible and convenient way for the people of Fresno to recycle their unwanted electronics while supporting Komen Central Valley’s important work. We are extremely proud of this collaboration and what we have been able to accomplish together."
