MIAMI BEACH, Fla. (PRWEB) November 10, 2020

'Grumpy the Iguana', the first book in the 'Grumpy the Iguana and Green Parrot adventure' series by Susan Marie Chapman, won the best children's book award at the 2020 NYC Big Book Award.

'Grumpy Goes Home For The Holidays' is the forth book in the acclaimed children's book series by Chapman. "It is a heartwarming story about family, friendships and the gift of giving", she states. "Grumpy decides to go home for the Holidays, to see his parents and his little sister, for the first time after many years. His friend, Mr. Squirrel, helps Grumpy to choose the perfect gifts for his family, while the Green Parrot makes sure that Grumpy has a bus ticket home. What will happen once Grumpy reaches the Florida Keys is a must read", she enthusiastically announced.

Critics are already praising this new 'Grumpy' adventure book. Jack Magnus of Reader's Favorite® opines, "Chapman's book is a fun and informative read that introduces children to the diverse marine life to be found in the Florida Keys", and he rated it 5 Stars.

"The story reveals why our connection to others can strengthen who we are as individuals; it is about family values and the real meaning of coming together for the Holidays", Chapman remarked.

Chapman is an avid advocate for reading to children and fostering a love for reading in children from an early age. On her blog she writes about family values, parenting, tips on how to raise literate children and her two dogs, Sugar & Cookie - who are the stars of two other children's books she wrote.

Susan Marie Chapman is passionate about writing children's books that are timely and educational; she always incorporates socially relevant matters into her stories. Chapman writes books that are great for parents to read to their children, and equally, all her illustrated books are great for children to read on their own.

She says, "Reading books aloud to your child from an infant age stimulates their imagination and expands their understanding of the world around them. When children understand their surroundings, books will allow them to travel in their mind to faraway lands, other times, different dimensions and put themselves in other people's shoes. That is how they develop empathy, a key-ingredient to appreciating the benefits of interrelations and belonging. And once children comprehend the power of belonging, they will be able to link together differentiated ideas, therefore contributing to advancement of society, and not only create or remodel their own lives, but also those of others".

To support her message and hashtag #ReadToKids Chapman is reading aloud to kids at Miami-Dade and Broward County schools, kindergartens, bookstores, hospitals, and private events. She loves to engage with her young audience in fun, exploratory talks afterwards.

The entire 'Grumpy the Iguana and Green Parrot adventure' series can be ordered online.
