The legal system in Nevis is based on the English Common Law. Nevis has its own resident judge who presides over both civil and criminal matters in the Nevis Circuit of the Eastern Caribbean Supreme Court. Decisions of the High Court may be appealed to the Eastern Caribbean Court of Appeal which is an itinerant Court. The final appeal court in St. Kitts and Nevis is the Judicial Committee of the Privy Council, which is based in London, England.
