One senior engineer on a key product for Tesla (Nasdaq: TSLA) is said to have left the company.

According to Electrek.co, Andrew Gray, who was formerly VP of Engineering at Tesla and a member of the company's autopilot team, left to join Cruise Automation, which is a company focused on retrofitting autonomous capabilities to vehicles.

Cruise was founded by Kyle Vogt, a co-founder of Twitch, and the company recently closed on a $12.5 million series A funding round. The company debuted its RP-1 prototype last year, which boasted features that were similar to Tesla's Autopilot.

Also on watch will be Mobileye (Nasdaq: MBLY) as Cruise Automation ramps up its production capability.

Shares of Tesla are up 0.8 percent Tuesday afternoon, while Mobileye is down 1.2 percent.
