Herbalife (HLF) Dips; Said to Be Investigated by Canadian Regulator

January 28, 2014 12:09 PM EST
Herbalife (NYSE: HLF) is lower today as market chatter has the company coming under another government investigation.

The NY Post said the Canadian Competition Bureau is looking into Herbalife following a series of consumer complaints received on the company. The Competition Bureau is also said to be interviewing Herbalife insiders and several distributors that believe the company is a pyramid scheme.

While the Competition Bureau is similar to the U.S. Federal Trade Commission (FTC), it is able to bring criminal charges, too.

Consumers have also accused several distributors for Herbalife of making false income claims.

Shares of Herbalife are down 3 percent.
